We made headway on the chairs today...woohoo! The chairs were dismantled and got a pretty new coat of paint. Here is what they looked like just before their new digs.
And here is a sneaky peek of what they look like now. So much better. It's not exactly the color I want but it's close enough and I think they'll look great in the room.
So, at my last post I said I was hoping to be done with the curtains yesterday. Seeing as I didn't even do a post yesterday, you are all probably aware that the curtains...are not done! Waah! You know how sometimes your eyes are bigger than your stomach? Well my gumption was bigger than reality. If that makes sense, lol! I am making progress on the curtains, but slow progress. My play rehearsals have now increased to three times a week and I am determined to keep up with volleyball (my only real source of exercise) so, some things are falling by the wayside.
Today was a mingled mess. It started out as not a good day. Zero point zero motivation and two whinny kids. I got the dishes done, so that was a plus, but I wasn't able to get to the grocery shopping today...boo! Then it turned a little better. I don't know how I pulled it off but I got a good start on my curtains. I had one nap time where both kids were sleeping (which never happens so I took full advantage). Then I discovered that I didn't have enough fabric. Almost three yards too short. Yikes...how the heck did that happen? From there it got a little worse.
Here are some of my inspiration photos that led to my overall design for my family room. A few posts ago I talked about the curtains that I am totally in love with, so here is a picture of them. These curtain are on my Pinterest and are originally from the Besserina blog. They are Anthro inspired and as soon as I saw them I knew they would be part of my room.
I don't like to blog on Sunday's but I will make a quick exception for the 31 Day Challenge. I wanted to give everyone an glimpse into what my family room currently looks like on any given day. (EEEEK!!) No judging!! One picture is all I'm going to share, just one. And it's really just a portion of the room. What you'll see is the current dumping ground for all of my projects, family room and otherwise. Are you ready? Okay here goes...
This is going to be a fast and furious post. There are just far too many fun things to do today to spend much time in cyberville. Two projects made leaps and bounds today. Here is the sneak peek for project number one. Could you believe that those boards just happened to be shelving in our basement when we bought our house? And that they were already that color? Pretty awesome if you ask me. I just love free projects. All I had to do was cut them down a tad. Can you guess what we are going to do with it?
In the craziness of today (the number one reason for the late post) the very sad, sad truth is that absolutely NOTHING got done on my living room today. Yesterday I had such high hopes of working on a project today that was started the other night. However, between the babysitting, house cleaning (more like a failed attempt to catch up), and an early rehearsal practice it just wasn't going to happen. Even my poor family had to fend for themselves at dinner time. Bad mama! I did accomplish something today, though. I made a good dent in the planning of my daughters birthday.
Originally my family room was going to take on a slightly nautical theme. I loved the idea of having a beautiful miniature sailboat in my living room. I had spent quite some time putting together what I thought was a fantastic start.
I have never had a family picture wall and thought it was high time to do one. We have two adorable kids and I figured they needed a spot to shine. There are about a million different ways to display your photos and about a trillion different frame styles to choose from. I happen to like things clean (and cheap!) so Ikea was my new best friend when it came to getting frames. Every single frame on the wall is from Ikea. As much as I like clean, I don't like everything to be matchy matchy, so I bought three different styles of frames all in white.
Here is what my family room looked like before our big remodel. It was extremely closed off from the rest of the house due to the laundry "room" smack dab in the middle of the walkway. Craziness right?! Most people who came into our house never even knew this room was here. You had to be looking for it to see it. One 3' opening was the only entry into this dark and dated space.
